Biking & Walking
Taupo and surrounding areas
Taupo and the surrounding areas are a beautiful place to take a hike. The Great Lake Taupo region is a nature lover’s Garden of Eden and offers some of the best walks and hikes in the country.
The walks cover a range of environments from alpine terrain, lake and river trails to tracks in thermal areas.
Of course, just south of Lake Taupo is the Tongariro National Park, a World Heritage area and where you will find the Tongariro Alpine Crossing walk, one of the best one day walks in New Zealand.
Whatever your wish when it comes to enjoying the outdoors, either in and around Great Lake Taupo – from Taupo to Turangi, Kinloch to the Kaimanawa Ranges you will find something to suit.
Taupo town has many walks and hikes on it doorstep – ask at our office for further information as our friendly staff will guide you in the right direction. We really love telling our customers about the walk to Huka Falls from All Seasons Kiwi Holiday Park Taupo, along the Waikato River; taking a dip in the Otumuheke Stream hot pool.
